When people hear ‘sales’, they probably think of call centres and car showrooms. The hard-nosed, profit-pursuing, product-pushing, wallet-raping sales.
I’m talking about a different kind of sales.
I’m talking about the selling of ideas, plans, aspirations, dreams, visions, projects and aims. The kind of sales that make things happen. The kind of sales that create emotional investments.
Being good at selling will allow you to begin, to get the go ahead, to create a relationship, to get ‘buy in’, to start putting something into the world. It’ll help you take your place on the starting blocks to await the pistol.
Of course, we need to figure out how to deliver once the pistol fires, but we can figure that out later. For now, it’s more important to create the opportunity to get started.
And you might need some sales skills for that.
