Did you know smiles are contagious? When you smile at someone, you activate the neurons in their brain that are responsible for smiling. That’s why most people instinctively smile back. Plus, those neurons don’t just make your mouth make a smiling shape, they actually affect your mood.
When we smile, we lift our state of mind. Studies conducted by Mindlab in Brighton found that smiling can make you feel more positive, optimistic and motivated. And since smiles are contagious, you can pass all of that on to the person you smile at when they smile back.
Even if it’s a stranger you pass on the street, try and smile at the next person you see.
